It is natural to think that there is a lot of pressure on you to have a drink.
It seems like society wants you to drink. The TV is telling you to drink. Your friends are telling you to drink, Heck, even the government is telling you to drink – responsibly.
There is pressure coming from everywhere, yet, saying no to that pressure is not the problem.
For most people the real problem is saying no to themselves. Many of us can’t say no to the voice in our head that tells us we deserve a glass of wine or a beer.
But it is easy.
Listen out for that little voice and accept that it will make suggestions. Then give it a name so you are clear where the suggestions are coming from. Finally, when the voice says you deserve a drink ask how a drink will help.
You’ll find that once you’ve learnt to say no to yourself the rest is easy. It doesn’t matter what the TV says – if you can say no to yourself. It doesn’t matter what your friends say – if you can control the voice in your head. It certainly doesn’t matter what the government says.
